I was doing research for another post, when I came across this. I don't know what to say about it, yet.

Tshirts, SPORTS, & My Friends are Geniuses.

Where would I be if I had no one to put me in my place? And on that note, I found a pack of Dinosaur t-shirts that I want really bad from Cottonfactory. Mostly, I want the Ankylosaurus shirt: Dino Pack.
I just discovered websites devoted to reviewing all of the tshirts available on the web. Check out T-shit Guru!

Favorite Microblogs!
I have 3 loves in this life: Cheeseburgers, dinosaurs, and everything edible. Everything in my life can be solved by cheeseburgers. A daily dose of anything dinosaur makes getting up in the morning worth it. And, finally, cooking and the hope that someday someone will cook for me is the only reason I'm social. With those statements, I come to a list of my favorite Tumblr blogs, thus far: There are other ones I look at, but not religiously, like the Fuck Yeah Link group. You pretty much know what to expect from the "Fuck Yeah" titles. There are plenty of cute groupings of internet goodness, too, such as the Welsh Corgi Collection. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a good dinosaur one. A lot of Tumblrs are collections of gifs, images, and a few videos, and then best ones stick to a single topic, or are used by a single artist to showcase their work. There is a small movement to exploit the site's multiple media capabilities and complex layouts to benefit more traditional blog set ups, like this one. I have to say that I am most happy with Blogspot for my more journalistic purposes, and excited to use Tumblr for the single-thought and image blogging I do on slow days.
- Sandwiched: "A tumblr blog dedicated to bringing you only the finest, most mouthwatering sandwich (and things sandwiched) photos out there!"
- Pizza Forever: "all things pizza"
- GAMEGIFS: "500kb & less of sweet, animated goodness!"
- Brian Wood's Northlanders: "NORTHLANDERS is a comic book series created and written by Brian Wood, published monthly by DC Comics' Vertigo imprint. Dave McCaig colors the series, and cover illustrations are by Massimo Carnevale." My favorite Comic Book series right now.
- Comic Books!: "Beginning, Middle, but Never The End..."
- Things Organized Neatly: By far my favorite microblog.
- The Leftovers.: "Ever miss out on that good food, and wish there was some leftovers? Well this is where you get em'! Music, Pics, Quotes, all the things you've missed out on, I got it! Ps. My names Chris, you can call me Beans. Follow me!" While seemingly a shameless plug for someone I went to high school with, this is the microblog that got me interested in Tumblr. It's a pretty complete hiphop culture blog, with music, images, and the occasional video. By far the best organized, and most in-depth personal microblog I've seen thus far. And I never call him Beans.
- The Coalescence Cascade: "Traveling Spain!" A record of my friend Jackie, traveling abroad for the year. A little personal, I check this blog daily. I hope she keeps up the momentum!

The Packers Post
I dug the Packers socks my stepfather bought for me 4 years ago at Lambeau Field out of storage, and got into the SPORTS thing!

I found out today that the love of my life, Drew Brees, is married and has 2 children. I guess I'll stop watching ESPN, in the hopes that I see his Nyquil commercial. It looks like I am a Packer fan through and through, after my viewing of a second full game, since the 1996 Superbowl. (Youtube search it yourself- I've got it on VHS.)
We're all revved up for the Packers at the Super Bowl! There's no way we won't make it, now! Though I have to agree with Cody on this one, and say that Obama vs. O'Reilly would make a much better halftime show than the Black Eyed Peas.
For a loving tribute to Clay Matthews, check out this tumblr: http://withlovingtoughts.tumblr.com. While totally able to pull off a ponytail, I have to say that I don't know what all the fuss is about. He certainly doesn't have Aaron Rodgers' knack for facial hair!
And props to Schooney for wearing his number 4 jersey with pride. Way to overcome adversity!

Moving to Tumblr!
Don't worry, you can still get Babe In Armor right here! However, religious followers of Everything's Cooler will have to head over to the new address for Unicorn Wednesday (which is now a national holiday). The new address is: everythingscooler.tumblr.com/.For original poetry (recorded- it's slam poetry), cheeseburger love, and rock n roll, check out Diving for Pearls. Microblogging is my new miniobsession, so expect to see a link to a Cheeseburger tumblr and a new project called "Video Game Characters Humping", soon!

Real Life Masked Vigilantes
Nerds with internet access have already seen
ComicsAlliance.com's coverage of the Milwaukee Punishers, and the decidedly more comic-book friendly Pheonix Jones and the Rain City Superhero Movement on CBS. Pheonix Jones decidedly works more like a citizen's watch group, and less like the more questionable vengeance-hungry vigilante in comic book fiction.
However, these groups can be questionable in their own right. They carry weapons, and probably stop alleged crimes before asking questions. Citizens arrests and groups like this have been the center of media attention before: The Minutemen along the US/Mexico Border is one example of a group looking decidedly negative to liberal viewers, and groups trying to prevent sex offenders from moving into certain neighborhoods have been known to incite violence.
Unfortunately, vigilantes tend to step over the basic rights of other people, which is the opposite of one of the Lockean ideals our country was founded on. The argument for this treatment of alleged lawbreakers is that by breaking the law, they have voluntarily given up some of their rights. This is an issue that could obviously lead to some very heated debate.
While an interesting idea, past masked vigilante groups have caused a lot of trouble: remember that, at its start, the Ku Klux Klan was based around vigilantism. They enforced the racist law of the land in the harshest manner possible. That's an extreme example, though pertinent for this Punisher group's ties to the Frank Jude beating in Milwaukee. The cool thing about the masked group in Lynnwood, WA is that they rely mostly on the costumes to freak people out. That's one of the things I've notice about crimes that happen in the public- if someone speaks up, it's possible to stop it without a fight.
If we're taking comics as an example for vigilantism, let's remember how masked crime fighting worked out for Kick-Ass and the Watchmen. While these authors are somewhat pessimistic, it's not so easy to write off their lessons. Peter Parker's loved ones are constantly under threat, Bruce Wayne can't keep up any close relationships, and Britt Reid (the Green Hornet) is believed to be part of a crime ring when in the mask. Modern comic books are constantly addressing why characters do what they do, and whether it's the right thing. Many of the most lasting characters follow their own rules, which law enforcement is usually against.
Lots of our favorite fictional vigilantes have a code. For example: Batman won't kill, and Dexter won't kill unless his victim's taken a life. These codes don't make them automatically good, however. The Punisher also has a code: it can probably be summed up in death. As many dead people as possible, so they can never hurt again. Rorshach in The Watchmen uses similarly brutal methods of justice, which makes his fellow vigilantes uncomfortable. Both these characters are spurned by their fellows, and one of the reasons the media and general public are so frightened by vigilantism. It is rare to see Super Heroes helping to clean up a mess they created, so it's safe to assume law enforcement and other public offices are constantly cleaning up after these private citizens, taking away time from protecting the public.
The Punisher group in Milwaukee is still being investigated. While more promising, we'll have to wait and see what Pheonix Jones' group does with their costumed power.
I'll be uploading another post soon on my views on vigilantism, specifically the group in Milwaukee, from the standpoint of someone that grew up there.

Aflockalypse
Masses of birds found dead have been sparking some conversations about the coming end of the world. Apparently.I haven't been paying attention/am too lazy to read the news articles, so I only heard about this today, and it's already been answered, according to super-secret world news sources. Notice how I cited a fake news site, and not a real one? That's because I know the truth.
Here are two sites that offer you some real insight into this mysterious and scary reality: here and here.
The upside to this, is that I get to type "aflockalypse" into as many search input boxes as I want. It's almost as fun to say as 'Metalocalypse.'

PS: Let the record note that Wikipedia users got a definition up faster than urbandictionary users. You're killin me, here, guys!
Just want everyone to know.
I was at the comic book shop playing a tabletop RPG until early this morning. Nerd FTW, noobs.
(One of the least embarrassing photos of me from high school, surprisingly. This from a girl that carried around her gameboy pocket- not color- in its charizard case on her belt senior year. I'm thinking about uploading some short stories from my painfully nerdy high school days as blog posts. That's how short on material I am. But hey, I was also in 3 runway shows- as a model!)

Really, my life is this unexciting right now...
Here is yet another interlude from my boring life:
I've also been working on a chainmail project (instructables.com is one of my favorite websites- and the linked tutorial is one of my favorites, too!), reading and boxing up comics (some of which I am attempting to sell), applying to new schools and seeking out a different Art History program, and cooking all sorts of savory dishes. 2 nights ago I pulled off 2 cheesy Bacon, Spinach, and Onion quiches-I put the second Quiche on Facebook Marketplace, but there was no response! Today was homemade pizza. A black peppered crust, spread with herb-infused olive oil, and topped with spinach, green pepper, chicken, and a prepackaged 'Italian Cheese' mix (Asiago, Provolone, Romano, et cetera), + herbs and spices!
Tomorrow I'm going to try making mac and cheese with taco seasoning- a little spiciness and zest with my melted cheese. Though it's going to be highly-processed crap melted and mixed on the stove, because I can't afford a trip to the grocery store right now to buy a nice, sharp cheddar, and I'm too lazy to bake it proper!
I wish I had someone to go see the new Tron with!
It's back to chainmail and internet TV for me!

Happy New Year, 2011!

That is part of a conversation I had on facebook chat as my New Year's celebration.
Just kidding- I went to a super nerdy party (after the above conversation).
The best thing about being single in the new year- never having to feel awkward when one of those horrible condom commercials pops up during a Hulu marathon of Peepshow, and watching Venture Brothers whatever day of the week I please. I've replaced whatever human contact I thought I needed with the animated show of my favorite Sunday morning strip: The Boondocks.
Besides, I can't compete with this:

or this:
Though I'm all over this:The year's off to a good start!
